Held at UK Construction Week London, the awards recognised outstanding tradespeople from across a range of disciplines, meaning Aaron was very happy to even be nominated for the Stonemason of the Year award, and absolutely thrilled when he was named the outright winner.
Who We Are
Torbay Stone and Conservation was founded by Aaron Lumsdon, an experienced stonemason who has worked with top masonry firms throughout the South-West.
Keen to offer his experience and skillset to a wider audience, Aaron set up Torbay Stone and Conservation to deliver a professional and dependable service for clients throughout the UK. Customers have been delighted with the quality of the work and the superb value-for-money they have received.

Historical Properties
Our extensive experience in the stonemasonry trade means that we are adept at working on a wide variety of sites, including historical properties. While certain aspects of working on older houses may present challenges for less experienced tradesmen, our team is adept at navigating a wide range of construction styles and building materials.
We regularly undertake historical conservation projects, which has given us a wide range of experience working on the structural challenges present in older buildings, including replacing supports and beams. Our workmen are also skilled in matching new adaptations to the older elements of the building, using tools to cut and shape stone to match the original facade.
For an example of our specialised work on older properties, see our work on Burrow Lodge, a property dating back to 1885 which was built from the stones of the vessel Napoleon surrendered on! We have also undertaken conservation work at Royal William Yard, Plymouth, and at Peartree House.
